Dentistry is no longer just a case of filling and extracting teeth, as it was for many years. Nowadays, dentistry is also considered as a way of improving their appearance, much as they would use cosmetic surgery or even a new hairstyle.
In a recent survey carried out by the British Dental Health Foundation found that smile is the most important feature when it comes to attraction between men and women: In another poll sponsored by Invisalign® in a sample of 1000 adults explored the importance of smiles in relation to business and careers, dating and marriage, the social arena, and the overall value of smiles and self-esteem.
The results showed that:

British Dental Health Foundation survey showed that despite the importance of smiles and teeth to everyday life, many people appear to have a poor image of the nation's 'Smile Factor'. The survey reveals that only 23% believed that the nation had 'good teeth', and nearly 50% the population were not happy with their smile or teeth - stained or yellow teeth being the most common concern (37%). Despite this overwhelming perception, many people were unaware that their smile can be significantly improved with cosmetic dentistry.
In his report, Dr. Nigel Carter, The Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, , explained why we love a smile: "The survey is a great reminder that we should be giving greater attention to our teeth... because it gives us the confidence to smile, which makes a major difference to our relationships, careers and overall image." He continues to say: 'It takes 43 muscles to frown, yet it only takes 17 to smile. A simple smile can make others feel at ease around you and can be a powerful show of emotion, yet not everyone has the confidence to do so... The results of the survey show even though many of us aren't happy with our teeth and do avoid smiling because of their appearance, we're still attracted to the opposite sex by a simple smile."
